I bought 7 of these for my nas about a month ago for $199/ea. Decent deal for $210. Better at $199 esp if u need more than one.

Okay so based on what I've read, it comes with 1 year warranty so therefore the recovery services may only be for the first year you own the drive?

While not specially listed. Seagate does not list a drive under 8TB that is SMR.

If you rely on the recovery service instead of on a backup, you're playing with fire anyway. For example if the head crashes on the platter and scratches it, even the recovery service won't be able to extract any data.

True, I got 199 from BHphoto last year and could only score 1. Been trying to get a matching pair:

Seagate Expansion STEB14000400 inside was an exos x16 7200 model ST14000NM001G.

Not sure what's inside these.
