Is this overkill for the Atari VCS?

Doesn't look like laptop memory unless the picture scale is way off 🤔

Yeah no clue why this says laptop memory. It is desktop memory (288 pins).

This a modest speed for DDR5 kits. I'd wait for higher clocked models with optimized latencies. Some companies have already announced their plans to create those kits.

This is such a mess figuring out what to do. i have all parts except mobo and then i have a samsung b die ddr4 kit. So i keep going back and forth between a crap ddr4 mobo to keep my RAM or the asus b660-i and being out hundreds extra just to get ddr5. But then even when you DO find a deal on ddr5, the qvls don't list the kit you get so you have no clue if it will work ok.

There were some ddr5-6000 kits with 36 latency, which is low compared to what else you find, but then not on lists so hate to risk it. And some guy told me there is no point in ddr5 unless MAYBE mid-5000 to 6000 range.

Only real choice for ddr4 that isn't rated horribly is gigabyte b660i, but don't trust the company and it only has 1 m2 slot.

Good call because they're recalling one of their boards now

But what's weird is they always have a ton of models rated horribly with tons of issues, then out of nowhere 1 or 2 models people say are so great. When i was originally building an amd instead I had the gigabyte b550 itx mobo and it's rated top notch. But i still don't trust tgem because what's the chances the board I get will be great when they have so many rated horribly? lol.

Its funny because some ASRock B550 boards I bought have had mixed reviews and all 3 of them have been flawless. All of the ports function well and I always use 80 plus gold PSU's. I feel that it makes a difference providing clean power for sure.

I was originally set on egttign asrock, but then i read where people said the power limit is too low to get the most out of a 12700k. So now I am down to only asus b660-i or risk gigabyte b660-i.

Or I could return the 12700k and go back to my amd plan... maybe get a 5950x where I don't feel dumb having sold my 5900x and then buy the same cpu back. lol.
