NIOSH is the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health, the government body in the US that regulates masks and their ratings for trades outside of healthcare. If you want to sell a N95 mask you have to get certification from either NIOSH (for non-medical uses) or the CDC (for medical uses). As for how worse the non-NIOSH masks are, it depends on the manufacturer. KN95 is the certification mark from China. If the masks are genuine KN95 certified masks then they should be essentially the same as a N95 in the US. Of course that if applies to the N95 masks as well. Lots of fakes came over in the past 2 years.

N95 is a US spec. Most rated for that, at least ones made in the US, meet the N95 spec.

Decided to just YOLO it and bought 100 masks, as five 20-packs, for $31.47 +tax. (5 of these is the maximum it allows you to buy). Overall around $0.34 per N95 mask, which is not bad for stocking up for the next several inevitable waves. People are too stubborn to see that we're still in the middle of a pandemic yet almost everyone is now unmasked in public/crowded indoor places.

I'm guessing most people don't feel like constantly wearing masks until all disease has been eradicated. Thus, they are okay with taking a risk... a risk they feel that they have the freedom to make.

Either way, this is a great deal!
