Only 1500 ANSI lumens, will need a dark room for sure.
Had this for a week and tested it against the Optoma Cinemax P2 UST. The LG had great picture quality when scenes were bright, but any middling to dark scenes were atrocious and near impossible to see. I really wanted to like it, but even at $2300 and $1000 more, the P2 was a no brainer for me. For reference, I have a 120" Silver Ticket white screen with 1.1 gain, so you'd think it would help the LG but still just struggled too much with dark scenes/blacks for me.

The LG's 1500 ANSI lumens compared to the P2's 3000 really showed.
Sad, no 3d

I got the viewsonic full color wheel. I'm thinking about downgrading my screen size from 135", to 120, to get a brighter screen. I sit like 10 feet away anyways. Good idea?

I have a 125" screen 10 ft away, and it still feels massive. Just make sure your projector can meet the throw distance.

I've been looking for a deal on a decent projector that would last until the next technology comes out. I bought this one because it is $500 off the original $1800 price. Reviews say its only drawback is limited lumens and contrast, which isn't a problem in a light-controlled room. It has an interesting LED technology that allows colors to really pop (without a color wheel) and reduces startup time, fan noise, energy consumption (I assume), and doesn't need to cool down really when shutting off. I imagine I can turn this on and off without hurting it. It has a DTV tuner, great OS, and excellent remote. 30,000 hours indicates it should last me until I need that new technology. I like the design of it as well. I wish it had 3D!

Just upgraded my dedicated theater to this model and love it thus far! Upgraded from a Benq 2050 on 120". The colors and clarity on this are phenomenal! You can even set the focus with the remote! The blacks are good but not great, but that's for those pixel peepers only. My only complaint is the power block which is a weird thing to have, but just tucked it up on the projector ceiling mounted. Bottom line it's a great deal on a 4k projector that looks amazing and you don't have the added expense of bulbs since it's led. I have a dark room and it looks amazing, if you have ambient light I can't speak to how it will do.

And to the person trying to compare it to a projector $1000 more…wtf?!?! For the record stay away from ultra short throw projectors…they tend to highlight ANY imperfections in your screen (unless it's perfectly stretched/mounted) and collect dust on the lens unless you cover it…but who covers their electronics between uses? If you want to play in the $2300 range the lg hu810pw is fantastic!

I agree with the others in saying this is a very solid LED projector. I bought one open-box for about this price last July. For those interested in high frame rate gaming, it is capable of 120 Hz at 1080p. My only quibble is the external power brick that another commenter already mentioned. But you really can't do better in terms of a bulb-less projector without stepping up to a much pricier laser-based solution.

Does anyone know if this can be mounted on the ceiling upside down?

Great idea. I have a smallish room in my basement that I use as a gaming/movie room. Seating is 6 to 8 feet from a 100" screen and it is too big. If I lean forward while sitting on the closest seat, I instantly start getting motion sickness.
