Als.com has the Smith Optics Trace Bike Helmet (normally $260) on sale for $109 for select colors and sizes.
(This went on sale while I was waiting for the REI anniversary sale to buy a new Smith helmet)
From the site:
SMITH OPTICS TRACE BIKE HELMET
Long winding descents and race-day lead-outs, the Smith Trace is all about versatility. Road, gravel or bikepacking, this bike helmet pairs complete Koroyd® with MIPS® for protection you can trust if the route gets hairy. And when the day heats up, you'll stay cool thanks to internal air channels with intake and exhaust ports that keep the air flowing. Side channels let you securely stash your sunglasses when you don't need them, and when you do, our AirEvac™ ventilation system prevents them from fogging up.
Free shipping with orders over $45

Both get you from point A to point B, The difference is aerodynamics, style, branding, research, testing, parts, etc etc.
For sure does more than a $3000 bag, yet ladies would go crazy to get a $6000 bag half off....
It is a high end helmet for a sport that has normalized high end $$ and glorifies diminishing returns.
It is no different than people spending 4 figures for a phone they totally not need (and still doesn't make coffee), but this is normalized now, but bike helmets are not. You are not happy with the flip phone from Walmart, others are not happy with $25 bike helmets.
In addition to what others have said, which is all true, this helmet also has MIPS - a piece of licensed technology that's meant to reduce brain injury from rotational forces during impacts.
Brands incorporate this technology at the cost of the license which gets baked into the cost to the consumer.
If you're into any outdoor sports, you may have heard of BOA lace systems. Similar situation. If you wanna have BOA laces on your snowboarding boots or road bike shoes, you're gonna pay extra.
