Interesting. Anyone have experience with these? If I slapped an RTX 2080 in it could I use it with my MacBook Pro 14 and would it give any real world advantage?

if you didn't have an m1, yes you would have significant advantages. i was using an rx 480 a few years back with a 2019 13" macbook and got great performance in dota
I have this egpu with an AMD Vega 64 and using it with my intel Mac mini. Its shoebox form factor is great and doesn't take up that much space. Works well when it works but not sure if it's incompatibility with Macs but there was a point in time when it did not start up properly unless I unplugged the egpu first (common problem with egpu and macs, could quickly google it, not sure if it's fixed since I no longer use the egpu - switched to M1 MBP). Also any wiggling of the cable would cause it to disconnect, on either both egpu side or the mac end (was using apples thunderbolt 3 cable)
Overall, great to have if you need the extra performance boost of a gpu at your workstation
I have one of these, and it has been pretty good. Primarily have used it with Windows 10 and a GTX 1080 in there connected to a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga and various other laptops with TB3 ports. It takes a little time to set up, but it's been fairly plug and play for me. I think the biggest hassle I had is when I hooked it into the TB3 port on my Razer Blade (which has its own dedicated GPU), and the Nvidia drivers between the two cards got confused - temporarily forcing me back into integrated graphics. Reinstalling drivers fixed the issue, and I don't really fault the dock itself for that one. This is a nice price if you know what you're getting and have good/realistic expectations of what can be delivered via the bandwidth of a TB3 port/cable.

its actually a decent way to get GPU added to an older Intel based macbook/macmini/imac - with Bootcamp and Windows 10 (for PC Titles) - via Thunderbolt 3 (which is limited to PCIx4) - so probably nothing higher than a RTX 2070 Super

M1 Macs don't support external GPUs.
even if the port on your chromebook was thunderbolt, i seriously doubt it has the drivers to work with the egpu.
Lol I'm hoping this was a joke, but no.
