I've said this on many other threads for this exact model, but this thing is a ticking time bomb from the moment you get it on eventually being dead. Just look through previous threads on this model, the costco reviews, and plenty of threads on reddit explaining that it's not a matter of IF it will die but really just a matter of WHEN.
My first two died back in November. I've had this one for six months and no major issues. Sometimes there is a sync issue or some crackling, which has been resolved with a power cycle. Costco's return policy > purchasing the 'refreshed' unit from best buy for $80 more. It's a pain, but the MFR isn't going to keep selling it with a known design flaw. I'm sure revisions of the same hardware have trickled in since it's release last year.

That sounds like the price I got mine at around Christmas time. It was in excellent condition and looked like the customer opened the box and returned it. I've been extremely happy with it in my apartment and have gotten a lot of compliments on how well it sounds.

Thanks for the info. Just bought one. How is the bass on this model?

So I'll preface by saying I'm no audiophile and just wanted something that sounded better than my TCL R646 that would give me a great movie and tv show listening experience.
As for the bass I think it's pretty good, I turned it up a decent amount and put the sub woofer in front of me in the corner of the room next to the TV and I can definitely feel it on my couch that's about 8 feet away.
The atmos isn't terrible either (obviously not as good as a dedicated Atmos system) but it's enjoyable. If you have a computer and download Plex, you can download some of these test trailers to get a feel for everything: https://thedigitaltheater.com/dolby-trailers/
The rear satellite speakers are also pretty nice and I find them to work really well as well

Thank you for the detailed info. Can't wait to get it and try it out. Rting shows 8.1
I got this on Black Friday. Once I did the firmware updates it resolved most issues. From time to time there's still glitches and I've found you need to power cycle it. The sound quality is very good. Definitely wouldn't buy something like this from another store besides Costco
Wondering if the 512a-h6 is worth the extra $100 instead of this bar. Seems like a decent amount of money if the sound diff is minimal. But from what I've gathered the 512a is quite a bit better.
Snagged this from Costco 16 months ago. It died after 13 months. Just need to get off my rear end and see if my CC with cover year two. Worked very well when it worked. But that's the issue with Visio....When It Works. I'd just avoid this H model year in general. There is no way Visio doesn't know they have a turd in the H series as far as quality goes. Newer J model? BUY the extended warranty.

The subwoofer bass is little to non-existent.
Go for the M512a-H6 when it goes on sale for $350 on Amazon. MUCH better sound.
Also, DON'T update Vizio firmware. Check the Vizio Official SubReddit—Vizio firmware has bricked many devices.

If you want the refreshed model without that worry then buy this one from BestBuy: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/vizi...Id=64597

The one from BestBuy is the newer model that fixed the issues that the previous one had.
