for collecting/trading, these types of boxes with booster packs are a good deal.
for learning to play, i'd recommend the battle academy. it's $20 for 3 full & playable decks.
for learning the rules, the battle academy is good. the pokemon card game app is also really good. free to play and there are pre-constructed decks that are balanced

I know, I'm lazy.
Will have them price match or just buy these and return the others, thanks OP!
this is what I got, looks to be the same but mine are in cardboard boxes.

If you received the cardboard version you got 7 booster packs vs 5. Don't exchange.
you got a better variety in the 7 pack version vs the metal tin with only 5 boosters.

Thanks for the feedback, does it still come in a tin in the cardboard box? Haven't opened yet and the kids would want a tin lol

What I hate is that I can't use my GC as it negates the free shipping... had it for like 3 years now lol.

The current set list that comes out this week is "Astral Radiance". The last set was "Brilliant Stars", before that Evolving skies. So it depends on what kind of pokemon she likes as to what set I would recommend. Fusion Strike and Chilling Reign are two sets from last year I like.

vivid Voltage is the set from last year that was hard to get an ETB of but PTC just did a reprint of them so I might recommend that one for Pickachu fans (no guarantee you get a Pikachu card)!
