Price is alright, but this clunky Chinese import is not your Dad's #87.
After you use a real Starrett, most everything else out there is junk. But, sometimes junk is good enough. The most copied of all, I have wondered if the Chinese reproductions of Starretts were any good.

Now, if you are at a yard sale and come across an old made in the USA General that is stamped '87' in good shape, that will probably be a good auto center punch that will last the average person a lifetime.

I've personally used this on stainless and other metals wo issues.
Is there really a big difference between this and say harbor freight spring punch?
