You can do the deal on the verizon website or the my verizon app - but I went to best buy and they gave me $250 EXTRA towards the $800 to be paid.

So once I send in my S10+ with a cracked screen (after I transfer all the stuff off it), I will get 36 months of $22 bill credits, ultimately paying me $7 / month for 36 months. Insane.

You do need to be on one of the unlimited plans and have a qualifying phone without battery damage.

I've been very disappointed to see Verizon go to the depths of AT&T with the 36 month contracts. Big Red doesn't really have to offer anybody a free/discounted phone for their network, so I guess it is nice that there's still an offer of any kind. However, as willing as I've been to tie my T-Mobile account up with multiple, overlapping phone contracts I don't have any interest in doing the same with my Verizon account for now.

The catch really is just that you cannot pay off the phone and have to just keep making the payments for 36 months to actually get the full $800. Verizon will just apply $22.22 discount to your monthly installment every month. If you pay off the phone you won't get the remaining discounts. If you keep your phones that long and have no issue staying with Verizon it doesn't matter...which is suits me, but doesn't work for everyone.

Also they'll want taxes and upgrade fee up front.

The nice thing is they'll take anything from a Galaxy S9 up and give you $800 for it, which seems nuts. Also considering inflation is going wild, locking in interest free deferred payments right now is a good idea. Your phone will feel like it's free when/if the MSRPs jump 33% on next year's phones.

The $800 credit seems to work on any phone including iphones, and the minimum Apple phone I found to give the full credit is the X, anything below that is much less of a discount. How does the Best Buy $250 credit work?

eve if they give the phone for free and just use one of their monthly services it is still costly compared to have a phone outright from elsewhere and paying 25 month with prepaid Visible
