I want to try the earfun line too. No app, but there may be a hack to tweak it's eq. The earfun is "dark and sharp", so maybe consider that in your personal sound preference.

Good points. I'd like to add that with today's large capacity memory, there really isn't a need to compress audio files anymore, especially if the user is listening from their own collection.
