Came out to $3.44 for me. Thanks OP. For some reason cayenne is more expensive than most of the other basic seasonings I use. This should last quite some time.

Caveat: 20% only applies to first container, but can order up to 4 in one order at this price.

I hate how the grocery store jars are like $6 when you can get these for $4 - $6. I can never turn over these big ones fast enough to keep the spices fresh so I waste a lot of product to save money.

I missed that. Does anyone know if I can cancel the order and reused the discount?

Cayenne fortunately is mainly heat with not much added flavor. I can confirm that the potency will stay fine for years and it doesn't cake or discolor.

I do agree though that many herbs lose a lot of essence quickly. if you own a home and don't have some thyme, basil, chives, oregano, mint, and such then you should really consider a small garden.

Basic question - what is the difference between this and regular red chilli powder and paprika? We use the regular one when we are cooking Indian cuisine based curries and lentil stews. Is this milder / hotter / altogether different flavor profile? What dishes specifically call for cayenne please? Thanks and reps.

This is really best used when you want to up the level of heat without changing the flavor profile. Think of Jalapenos or their mature, smoked sibling the Chipotle. Both add a bit of their signature flavor to the dish when added. Cayenne is spicy but is pretty neutral tasting.

"Red chili powder" seems pretty comparable to cayenne. Cayenne is often cited as a substitute.

Paprika tends to add sweetness, and if processed appropriately, smokiness to a dish. Plus it's pretty. laugh out loud

Do not interchange Cayenne and chili powder. Chili powder is practically no heat, I use 2 tablespoons when I make chili. If I use 2 tablespoons of cayenne pepper I might kill someone.
