I like the flexibility of being able to use it as an offset firebox on a larger Char-Griller unit, and as a stand-alone portable grill and have no major complaints so far. (The finish does have some surface rust on the outside of the hinged lid portion, so I'll probably sand it down and repaint it after this summer.)
Properly seasoned, the cast-iron grates have held up well. The grate height isn't adjustable, but that's no different than most smaller units. I don't know if the Char-Griller and Char-Broil versions are the same size, but the grates on mine are 17x14" which give you just shy of 240 sq in, or about the same surface area as an 18" Weber kettle, but at a wider ratio for easier indirect grilling.
