I got about 5 hours in before giving up, the lack of agency just killed it for me. Very interesting story, but Id rather have just read it as a book. I really recommend watching a couple hours of gameplay before buying. The reviews do not accurately represent the game.

It's really meant for visual novel fans, but I'm sorry you had that experience not knowing the genre prior; it's okay! I've played the Ace Attorney games and have been interested in this.
Voice acting is fun and it's a great sci-fi story if you're into the genre. It has a 88 in metacritic and plenty of rave recommendations from other Japanese creators like Yoko Taro.
Do your research because its not everyone's cup of tea, but no game is.
