Academy has a 20% coupon site wide (must be signed into your account) and they have Buy 2 Get 1 Free deals on some of the Srixon golf balls. Free shipping for orders over $25. With tax the Z Star balls came out to be around $26/dozen for me after the 20% coupon.

Pretty close to the normal yearly BOGO deal Srixon runs on Father's Day every year.

At $1/ball for Kirkland Signature, it's hard to bite on this. I don't feel that the Z Stars are twice as good as K-Sig.

I agree! Next to Bridgestone Tour B XS they are my favorite golf ball to hit. I honestly don't notice too much a difference between them other then I would say that the Bridgestones have a bit more stopping power on the greens.

For beginners you can probably play a cheaper ball as you may end up losing quite a few of them.

That being said, if you are starting to play again, stick with one ball and get FITTED.

When you get FITTED, bring the golf ball you will use on the course.

Dang, looks like they raised that price within the last 2 months. It was $24.99, but the site now says 35 as you mentioned.

I bought 4 x boxes in April for the old price and haven't seen that the price went up.

Edit: In Store price is still $24.99. Online price is higher.
