About this game:- Join Aloy as she braves the Forbidden West - a majestic, but dangerous frontier that conceals mysterious new threats.
- Explore distant lands, fight bigger and more awe-inspiring machines, and encounter astonishing new tribes as you return to the far-future, post-apocalyptic world of Horizon.
- The land is dying. Vicious storms and an unstoppable blight ravage the scattered remnants of humanity, while fearsome new machines prowl their borders. Life on Earth is hurtling towards another extinction, and no one knows why.
- It's up to Aloy to uncover the secrets behind these threats and restore order and balance to the world. Along the way, she must reunite with old friends, forge alliances with warring new factions and unravel the legacy of the ancient past - all the while trying to stay one step ahead of a seemingly undefeatable new enemy.

The PS4 version has a free upgrade path. I opted for the native PS5 version because I was able to get it for $35 new from GameStop during their Pro Member $15 off promo glitch. With that said, I liked the first one better. This one felt more of the same, and the story is OK. It's a good game to playthrough.
Also, I ran into a lot of bugs. Enough to dampen my enjoyment. Some that I had to exit and load a save. With Zero Dawn, I experienced 2 very minor defects that had no effect on the gameplay (from release).
It's missing a good plot and more interesting quests (not just busy work). It really does seem like a 1.5 instead of a full sequel. Lots of cinematics (to cover up a lack of substance).
While I'll still play Zero Dawn, I haven't spent as much time replaying Forbidden West, as it doesn't scratch that itch for me. Also, Zero Dawn looks fantastic with the 60fps update.
Forbidden West is a movie that is trying to be a video game too.
That's not to say you shouldn't get it, but I hope #3 is better. Hopefully there's nowhere to go, but up.
