Can you provide a link to faster memory (CAS) in 32GB SO-DIMMs thats anywhere close to $79/DIMM, either now or a year ago?
Your link is a desktop RAM , not SODIMM ddr4.
This thread is SODIMM ddr4 for laptop/mini PC, the price is good.
I purchased a week ago for $2 more, but it has compatibility issue for me.
I Installed in my 11 gen NUC , after boot up, the system hangs few minutes later. it could be the individual ram issue or other problem

Is this a good replacement for legion 7 or should I just go with the more expensive Kingston impact fury or timetec? the impact fury has cl20 but I doubt it makes much of a difference?

CL22, for those wondering. 22-22-22-52. Not great. Kind of slow for the price, as I paid around this price about a year ago for 3600 CL16. I know, I know, inflation. I still feel like there are better deals to be had, on better RAM.

Sorry. I misread the post as 32GB (2x16).

Is it the AMD or Intel version, as that makes a huge difference in the answer. Also what's your use case? Are you using it for video editing/rendering/ other professional work?

Edit: I completely misread this deal as 32GB (2x16GB). My fault. This is a pretty good deal if you need 64GB for professional work. If you don't absolutely need 64GB, the same 32GB kit I bought last year is on sale for $150 on Amazon. It's 3600 CL16-19-19-39. It's Micron B-Die. I was able to tighten up the timings quite a bit past those latency ratings.

Amd 5900hx currently has single rank ram. Gaming and professional work.

edit: I'm not looking for 64gb btw. completely overkill. I'm looking at probably 32gb which is overkill but why not. Windows 11 eats a lot of ram

You realize this also SO-DIMM? Those timings are "okay" for laptop non-gaming non-full sized desktop running at 1.2V right?

Nah, 32GB isn't overkill at all in a laptop. With a laptop, if you are stuck at 16GB, 2GB will be used up just by the graphics card so you actually have 14GB available. And you can use up 9GB of ram just booting up windows. You only have a modest amount left for running programs. 32GB is the sweet spot.

I have an 11th gen intel CPU, it used to boot up real quick, but then it started getting slower. I purchased this just over a month ago for the same price, plus it was on back order at the time.

Went from one 16Gb stick to this, the boot time seems to have just slightly increased, and I find that I am using around 34Gb in normal use, work plus browsing, lots of tabs open.

Before my laptop used to have to swap out unused apps/data to be able to get new apps/data into memory, so used to slow down even though I have a gen 4 m.2 drive.

It was a hard choice between getting a 16Gb stick to take me up to 32Gb or 2 * 32Gb sticks to take me to 64Gb, I decided that as ram (providing its used) is the cheapest upgrade, I would just bite the bullet and go to 64Gb, as the OS will not be swapping data out to get other data in, the M.2 drive will last longer. Could also have gone from one 16Gb stick to adding a 32 Gb stick to take me up to 48Gb, but did not like that idea, wanted two of the same capacity.

I have had about 4 crashes in the last month since the memory installation, and my pc did not use to crash before, not sure if this is the memory or some setting I may need to tweek.

I left my swap file set to 16Gb, some programs still look for a swap file setting plus I don't want to swap out anyway.
Got rid of my hibernate file as I don't want to put my laptop to sleep, or reserve the 64Gb on my M.2 drive for this purpose.

Did think about the memory being a bit slow, but not swapping out then loading new data in seems to be a better option than memory that's a bit slow, also I am sure that price would have increased by a significant price.

Edit I am on windows 10, no plan to move to 11, probably will move over to Linux in the next 6 months
