thumbs up for the bike deal. This is a great product, but it is this price just about everywhere now. The new model announced last month kicked off a price cut on the older models. I think the video option is overkill for me
I will say again, this is a great product. One of the best bike purchases I've made in a long time. For $150, this is worth the investment and the comfort you'll feel when you know a car or multiple cars are coming behind you without having to keep looking over your shoulder.

How viable is it in a city if you have experience with that? I read DC Rainmaker's review, and it seems like it is more suitable for rides with occasional cars rather than nonstop cars.

unfortunately, I don't have experience with it in a large city. There are some busy streets in the towns I ride, but not like NYC or LA. I'm mostly in small towns or roads with cars in bunches or 2-4, not constant traffic. It does work properly if there is a longer stream of cars behind me when those do come up. Some head units, Garmin or the Ride with GPS app (maybe others) show how many cars there are and scrolls them up the screen as they get closer and closer to you with a beep notifying you when the last one has passed if you don't want to look down at the unit. I also feel cars give me a little more room when passing because the light turns from solid to flashing as the unit identifies them. Drivers might think they're on camera and getting recorded. I can't confirm this, but I've had a lot more space in the last 2 years when getting passed compared to the last 35 yrs of riding.

I ride with someone who has this and he loves it. We ride in a small-ish city with some, but not steady traffic, and it helps, but I can see if there's a lot of cars constant beeping could be annoying. Anything else in the rural and sub-urban areas it works really well. I can even tell by hearing his garmin beep if there's a car coming behind us. Works great, battery lasts for a long time, enough to do a full century with few stops on the way, and more.
I do ok commuting in the city without the radar, but the traffic is not heavy where I live.
I ride with a Varia radar and have used it in both rural and urban environments. It's a fantastic product overall. However, on a roads with constant traffic, the radar function is not particularly useful because you already know that there is a constant flow of traffic behind you and ride accordingly. On any roads with sporadic traffic, it's an excellent tool to help prevent cars from surprising you. It's a great tail light, too.

I've never tried it, bc I'm mostly riding alone, but if you have a compatible head unit, I've heard you can sync to your buddy's radar and see what he/she sees when cars are coming. I can't confirm this, but when I was looking to buy one, that's what I was told. Not sure if it's via bluetooth or ANT+
Ahh, thanks everyone. I'll probably pass on it then. I ride in Chicago so tonssss of cars. I was more worried about when cars are speeding to make lights, but it's usually not an issue if it's flowing greens.

I would ask myself, would it be helpful to be alerted when there is a car behind me? If the answer is no, because there is virtually always a car behind me, then it might not be worth it.
For anything less than constant traffic, it's great.

I can confirm that this works. It can sync to multiple ANT+ compatible head units. It works well as long as you are riding in close proximity to your buddies. I've done this several times. Most of the folks end up loving it and getting their own units.
The unit also supports Bluetooth, but I don't think you can do the one-to-many connections using BLE.

Wow, I just did a cursory search, and apparently it is true. Going to give it a try next time I ride with a buddy. Thanks!
This is worth the peace of mind. If you ride in the street often this is a must have. The price is fair. You can use it with the garmin app on your phone or a garmin watch. We own 4 and i don't regret the purchase. I know cars can see me. Drivers have thanked me for being so visible.
It not only has the radar but the light is bright enough to be visible mid-day. The radar detects anything moving faster than you and headed your way. The radar activates the light to flash faster and faster as a car, person or charging cow approaces you. You can view the approaching object on any compatible computer, garmin watch or your phone, with a compatible app. Or you use it just as a back light with radar. There is also a remote available that if you own 2, you can use them as turn signals. Great for recumbents or bike trailers.
For 150, its a good buy. If you can find a website with additional %off a purchase then even better. I got 20% off when i bought mine a year ago. But they were 199.
