Good deal! I bought this last year for $399 and I do love it. This is good for small lawn since it isn't self propelled and 18" is on the smaller side.

This only seems like a mediocre deal since the price has been $399 all the time since last year. I guess if you are a Makita fan boy then the batteries might be worth it.
Got one yesterday from marketplace at 220. Compared to my gas powered, it is lighter and easier to move around. That said, it drops power until it needs more for heavier loads. Can be frustrating. Great cut overall. Bag is well made. Mulcher does a decent job as well.
Steel think that the one with gas engine would be much more powerful than battery one. I know the battery is the future but those electric motor is still not that reliable as the gas engine. At least to my experience, the electric one I used has problems this and that while the old engine one never fails me unless you don't have enough gas to feed it.

I had the opposite experience. My gas mower was unreliable and that's why I switched to electric honestly it had been great, I don't even need to do anything for it before storing it for the winter. Instant torque is also great. I find this to be more powerful than the gas one I had

I had a great relatively modern gas mower from Honda that was awesome, great cut mulched or bagged, super reliable, started first pull every time. But was curious about the new style electrics with brushless motors. Tried out a push only Toro 60V for a season, really liked it, though kept the Honda. Saw a good deal on the Self-propelled Toro and picked it up, liked it even more. Sold the Honda this season, I don't anticipate going back to gas, and my household is definitly Honda fanboy-dom. 👍🏼😂

Gas engines have many more moving parts. You can store an electric tool without having to worry about winterizing or anything like that.
While I may not have this one in particular I have a ryobi 40V mower and it does not have enough power to get through my small lawn when it overgrows a little bit. Gas is far more powerful. Considering selling my battery powered mower and getting gas. Will most likely keep the weed eater and the leaf blower since it's just more convenient to keep those electric and they got plenty of power for what I need.

Not sure which one you've got, and I don't remember the specific model I have (all I can tell you right now is that it's self propelled, 20", and I'm on my third year with it), however, I've mowed through my lawn with it being nearly as high as the battery door without issue (bagging or side discharge), with the height set all the way up.
That said -- the uplift of my Ryobi isn't anywhere near what my old Craftsman gas mower was, which is something I hope improves with electrics soon.

Home depot had these on clearance a 3-4 months a go with 4x batteries. I picked up two for 250$ a pop.400$ had been the running price for awhile.
