That big circle below the key pad is a cover for the key. you get a set of keys with this. If the batteries die, you slide the cover and stick your key in.
Just a guess...but you probably replace them.
I see many are afraid of the battery dying on these things. I've had so many variants of this type of a lock. Wi-Fi, local Bluetooth, etc. they all seem to last the same in that they never freaking die as long as you are using a quality battery. You will notice it slowing down as far as unlock speed goes prior to it dying. That's a great telltale sign to switch it out beforehand.

I bought the built in wifi version when there was a deal from Newegg a few weeks back. I think it was $154. Totally worth it, it's been a great lock so far.

These don't work with HomeKit if I'm not mistaken even though other Eufy products do. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I would otherwise probably pick this up

1 bridge = 1 lock.
You can't add locks to this bridge (just in case if you're wondering):

Yes, I know that but what if the power is out. Is there a backup to get in the house?

as they have the wifi connection, Eufy is working on making all of their products home kit ready. Within the Eufy app there is a home kit section that says something to the effect of "we're working on it"
