Technology advances and moves on. It's harder to find older techs. Plus you will likely pay more for older things.

These seem to be dropping pretty quick in price lately. Is this also because of crypto crash?

Most higher end drives work with with the M.2 form factor. I recently upgraded from a 2011 CPU/motherboard, so I understand not everyone has M.2 right now. That having been said, there are adapters to use the M.2 form factor with either SATA or a "standard" PCIe slot.

Is the fire in the two pictures because it goes so fast or because it crashes at such an alarming rate? Also, why fire?

The products are not comparable. That seagate is a pcie 4 and this one is 3. Also, the high TBW doesn't really matter that much in my opinion. Most people never use their drives that much. I bought as uses SAS SSD and it only was at 2% of tbw despite being in a server for the last 3 years that was on 24/7

If you want a Gen 4 stick, there's this from last week [newegg.com], its about $30 more and its faster, Gen 4 works with Gen 3 systems.

Just to add to what the other person said, when you do find a Gen 4 M.2 that you want, don't worry about the speed. Sony recommends one that has a read speed of 5500 Mb/s, but the speed that this has (3500 Mb/s) is just as good. No games use the full speed of SSDs yet, and likely won't for the entirety of the PS5 generation. My SSD is only 3600 and it loads everything just as fast as the stock one. Some people even use ones that are 3200 and most games still load just as fast, or they take 1 second longer. It's a software thing, rather than hardware. You could have an SSD with a speed of 7000 and it would only load games 2 or 3 seconds faster than mine. I'm saying all this so that you know you can save some money. You don't get any real benefit from getting an expensive fast one for the PS5 (computer is a different story). Mine was $75 for 1TB, but it was on sale. It's the WD Black SN750 SE, in case you want to keep an eye out for it. It works great with the PS5.
