Audio out from your tv has a lot less bandwidth than HDMI. You will get compressed audio vs lossless and you are missing out on plenty of features like Atmos.

Here's a comparison

This has nothing to do with this AV receiver which has been sold to and owned by Voxx.
UPDATE the firmware when you get it home. I got a lot of Wi-Fi drop on the "stock" firmware.

It's a pretty decent reciever with dual HDMI out, I'm probably getting their $1300-range from Pioneer/Onkyo/Integra though cause that gets you DIRAC Live and IMAX Enhanced.

I must be old school. I don't HDMI out from my receiver. What's the benefit? Why shouldn't I just run the audio OUT from the TV into the receiver?

Are you using only a cable box or antenna. I suppose you could just run an optical cable from your receiver to your TV.

Newer iterations of HDMI can support lossless high def audio such as Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master Audio, etc

However if your audio sources don't support them, then you're okay with running a toslink cable. However you still use HDMI since it can send video as well (hence less cables to deal with).

Just a smart TV for streaming all the apps, and then a chromecast for pure audio. No cablebox. Wen I hookup the XBOX or Computer to the TV, I use the audio out (aux) out from the TV and put it into the receiver. I'm just wondering if I'm missing some quality or potential benefit? Seems like a lot less cables the way I'm doing it.

I don't either, more for the fact that I don't like how split audio controls are removed from PS5 when routed through the receiver. I've tried both and the difference in quality is minimal for my setup.

I'm a little confused, how are you getting video from your Xbox to the TV? Is it like a older Xbox that supports component video?

If I'm understanding you correctly you are still using HDMI IN for the Xbox to receiver, but don't see the benefit for HDMI Out to the TV correct?

No, of course not. You have to buy a powerful amplifier to get that kind of power per channel.

What's with the Costco receivers not having any zone 2 or 3 outputs?

This has them. However, cheap receivers don't usually have the pre amp outputs.
