Walmart, Cabela's and Amazon are playing a price match game for the Pflueger President XT in size 20 and 25.

size 20: $67.21
size 25: $64.14 - NLA Price Increase now $94.20

I personally have the size 25 and use it as my primary for bass fishing and light saltwater lure fishing. It is so light and smooth. size 20 would be perfect for trout.

Thanks for the reminder. Still have 3k worth of gift cards I was going to use for trolling motor but bought it elsewhere for cheaper

I am thinking about buying one of these. Can anybody in the know tell me if this is worth the price difference over the non XT president. I have two of the non XT, and I like them very much.

President XT has a faster gear ratio and lighter weight, both of which are not important for a reel in this price range IMHO. XT achieved a lighter weight by replacing some stainless steel components with aluminum alloy ones. This, plus the faster gear ratio, actually make XT less robust under heavy load and saltwater -- both President and President XT are not designed for saltwater anyway but good for some occasional abuse as long as you take care of them.

I have this reel and 4 other non XT Presidents. I must say I prefer the rubber paddle on the handle over the cork of the XT. I know it's a small thing, but after using both you like what you like. It's still a great reel, especially at this price. I really like the lowest end Trion reels too.

I've got a number of different Pflueger spinning reels. This reel will be matched to my travel 7' Diawa Presso rod. For the price these are great little reels for freshwater. I'll be using this as my backpacking trout rod. Combined with the mentioned rod total weight is less than 10oz.
