Good luck finding a Pi. Rpilocator.com is a decent resource but they go OOS extremely quickly.

Does anyone have any tricks to getting a pi? I am aware of pi locator but I never see any available in the us. Is anyone aware of what the deal with production is as well and I'm not talking about general issues. I'm wondering about specific component issues or maybe a specific issue with a factory. Just curious cause Google isn't very specific

For those who don't know, there are plenty of other SBCs that are either way faster than a Pi4 or else run at a comparable speed, that are available right now. Such as Odroids, Banana Pi or the Radxa Zero which is about 70% of the speed and way, way cheaper. The Zero is actually amazing for what it is, I own one and it screams for something that's roughly the size of a stick of chewing gum. Nothing to do with the original post/deal, just a tip for anyone actually looking for an SBC that can run DietPi or other flavors of Debian along with all the software you can run on a Pi4. Right now IMO it's pointless looking for a Pi4 when you weigh up the competition and its availability.

which of the non-PI boards (odroid, banana, radxa, etc, etc) are as fast as a PI 4 or faster (and hopefully comparable in price or cheaper)? i'm looking to game on a board with something like retropie. i don't even know if retropie images will work on non-PI boards?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure most if not all ODroid units are faster. The N2 is a hex core, I think the N2+ is as well. Regarding price, they're ALL cheaper now because the Pi4 is basically OOS everywhere. Radxa is extremely tiny and as mentioned, about 70% of a Pi4, which still means it'll run Retropie really well. I totally recommend those, considering how small and cheap they are. Odroid C4 is equivalent in power I believe. Check out ameridroid.com and then google each SBC versus Pi4.

PINE64 is another maker of cool ARM SBCs at solid prices. They're trying to get into more upscale, ambitious projects like e-ink tablets, cell phones, and higher poerformance boards but most of the single board models are rather affordable, and you can get most of the needed accessories there. Downside is they may or may not be compatible to Rpi accessories, depending on the model and what you're trying to do. But there is a lot of development activity at PINE64 so there are probably already ways to do what you're looking for.
