*Obligatory* Steam sales ain't what they used to be
Before you could refund they would do like 1-3 hour flash sales of games at massive discounts. It was fun to watch all day to see what would go on sale. Now because of refunds they don't do that, as people would just refund when a better deal came out.
Spoilers for the (really stupid) treasure hunt:
Guitar Billionaire
Custard Castle Small Claims Court
Bass Ain't Bitin' 2022
Dead Seagull Zoo Magnate
Actually... Frankenstein's Monster Edition
It's Probably Fine
Help The King Get To The Toilet
The Consecration Of Esthme
Pro Poker Amateur
Hold In Your Farts
You'll have to dig through the categories to find these for the quest, they are randomized so one person's section won't necessarily be the same as yours. Good luck.

What did they used to be like? I'm a more recent PC user and I see that like 50% of the current sales are repeating every Steam sale (DBZ Fighters for like 9 bucks, Cod games 50% off, etc) and then some games like ubisoft drop a little more in price every time until they sell for like $10 bucks.

They could solve that by restricting refunds of the specific game(s) during flash deals, and not allow flash deals to be gifted.

And yet, prices were horrible across the industry before Steam. Gabe Newell coined the mantra that he'd be able to hit a publisher's sales target equally by lowering the price and more would purchase it in return - goal being that more people got to enjoy it.
No the sales aren't like they used to be, but games are still far more affordable than they used to be (unless you're stuck in the Nintendo camp).
