FYI, these work great in low humidity; i.e. Arizona, conditioned spaces like offices, etc. They can make you more uncomfortable in high humidity.

FYI, this is a swamp cooler, won't work in the southeastern US, humidity to high.

And are cooling solutions like this popular with RVers, vanlifers and people who live in trailers, or even tent camping?

Yes
You can test it yourself.
Put a bowl of water in front of a box fan and turn it on. for better results put ice in the bowl.

You do cross ventilation there. Put this cooler at one end and open the window a little and let the air flow out at the other end.
