Amazon has the Toshiba M550 on sale for $349, Sold by Bestbuy. While others have quoted this being a mixed bag of Hisense's U6G and U7G varaint. A Toshiba rep got back to me on the Amazon Q&A section and I was told specifically that the 55' model has a brightness nits of 450.

So what is the quality of this TV? If it's u6g or u7g equivalent, I'd bite on the 55" but I'm seeing a lot of mixed messages

Consumer reports says it has very good picture quality and viewing angles. This would be good for a bedroom honestly.

In comparison with the Hisense U6G, the 65 and 75 inch models have 60 dimming zones, while the U6G 50 and 55 models have 32 zones.

Toshiba said the M550KU TVs have "up to 48" zones of local dimming, but didn't provide more detail by press time. Typically larger TVs in a series have more dimming zones, so it's likely the number on the 55- and 65-inch models is lower. If your planning to buy this for gaming, the M550 panel is 120hz, but the TV doesn't have HDMI 2.1 so it won't support 4K @ 120hz. You can get 1080p @ 120hz or 4k @ 60hz

Amazon's 55 inch Omni Series TV is on sale for 299, is this one better enough to make the extra 50 dollars worth it?

The Toshiba has local dimming, VRR etc, 120hz though somewhat crippled. I think its a better TV than the Omni.

I'm curious if the 65" will go lower though on either of these , on Prime Day
