I have had one for many years. Works Great on my 22" kettle. My family loves the taste that you get with a properly grilled pizza. You will use a lot of charcoal for this type of cook (I usually fill the entire back half perimeter of the kettle). I think I paid around 60-70 a good 5 years or so ago.

You are right. Use most of a bag to get it up to temp and hold it. An ooni would pay for itself quickly.

How much is the cheapest Ooni? Even if you found one for $250 that's quite a bit of charcoal you'd have to burn to pass the break even point. Ooni is clearly better designed for the task but $40 is cheap enough to bite on for the occasional pizza grill bake.

Do you wish you had the Ooni, or is the PizzaCraft good enough for the casual user?

I just got an Ooni. It's not a plug and play device. There is a fair amount of learning and tweaking to get it to work. I've used it 4 times so far and the only time I got it to work properly was the first time. Every other time there was something that was off, the chimney vent wouldn't stay open, the front door wouldn't stay on unless I put it on exactly as needed or there was ash build up restricting air flow. All these things kept it from getting up to temp. And if it wasn't 1000 degrees the dough didn't cook right. When it did work it was really good.

This is an awesome price and it works very well. Not nearly as popular as Kettle Pizza but they don't spend nearly as much on marketing either.

You'll want a wooden pizza peal for this kit. Metal peels stick really bad to raw dough. And Neapolitan pies have really sticky dough. Pizza screens aren't a bad idea either. Let's the kids take their time making their pizza and let's you practice cooking without dealing with the tricky insertion until you're ready.

This is a good price compared to a KettlePizza. And honestly this should be the price for all of these kits. Its a simple metal surround, peel, and entry stone. At this price, it may be worth it instead of hacking up a old grill by making a hole in the lid for a pizza and buying a stone separate. Again, good price for a once in a while item to use and cheap enough to sell local if its not your thing.
