And because of a lawsuit, you basically can't group speakers together.
For instance I use to be able to cast Lofi around my entire house for some nice background music no matter where I go. Now that's impossible.
Honestly it's gotten so much worse, I've been thinking about switching.
The issue with any Google product is that you never know when Google will just randomly cancel it. Why? Google's promotion system still relies on employees making new products and services. Maintaining existing product lines will not get you promoted. This is a big reason why Google ends up cancelling products, just to release a similarly product with a different name. Worse is when they completely kill off a product like Nest Protect or even the Nest App and replace it with something inferior and broken e.g. I don't think they fixed Nest Cam integration with their Google Home app yet. They just don't like maintenance. Another example is even years after release, having different profiles on Google TV will only work by luck.
To be fair all of the smart home platforms have their pros and cons. Google's cons just really piss me off.

Google has better answers for questions and things with decent home control. Alexa has better smart home integrations.
For smart displays tho Google all the way. I own multiple Nest Hubs and echo shows and by by far the screens on the Echo shows are useless. The Nest hubs are good at popping up controls when detecting motion with relevant buttons and things that you can touch whereas the Echo Show literally just shows news and pictures

The algorithms for these are strictly for use within a few inches away from the display whereas non- screen devices are for being several feet away from the device. And also, google really hates you knowing the time on these. If you do anything on the display, the clock disappears completely. For example, listen to music or the news while you get ready? No clock. This baffles me. My experience was so bad with these displays, I went to a lenovo essentials clock and am much happier.

Alexa as a platform is good for smart home integration i.e Routines, device compatibility. Google is decent at this as well but my gripe with alexa is the devices with screens are not very useful. I would recommend getting an echo dot or something with no screen. If you do like the screen displays, Nest hub is superior. Hope this helps! I know it's confusing but this is just my consensus as a long time smart home Enthusiast and developer!
I was adamant about Google until around a year ago. Now it's gotten worse. I constantly have to say the same commands multiple times to get it to recognize what I say.
