And anyone with the EA version disagreeing, you got lucky. The GA has issues. If you google it they're claiming a firmware fix, but some people have manually lowered the fan speed and it's still loud. They changed something with the general release
Has to be better than my USG that get so hot you can't touch it. It goes in a closest so noice won't matter.
I was waiting UDR in stock to use mostly as a console & poe switch with one of their AP rather than main wifi AP since that's the cheapest console in their product line.
I'm looking for alternative POE supported AP (hopefully no pointy antenna for ceiling installation.) but can't find something under $150 like their U6 series.

I don't know if you're missing much. I got a U6 lite.
The signal strength is weaker than the Deco X60 I had gotten from Costco. I intend to try openWRT on the U6 lite as it's supported.

I'm waiting for the moment I can retire the pfSense device I have, and be able to manage my network with Unifi interface, but between limited VPN options and lukewarm performance of Ubi devices doesn't look like that moment is arriving anytime soon.

Good 4x4 routers have historically had a $200 +/- price point. A lot of manufactures have been abusing marketing for stuff that doesn't translate to real world; at least when majority of clients don't perform any better between routers at $100 and $400 in "X" environment.
AX hardware has been getting better on the "high end". Can't really comment on APs, though those don't need to be optimized as much as single point routers for obvious reasons.
Edit: The only logic I can see for buying this is if you intend to connect other Ubiquiti AP's to this thing as a main router. Really the only time it make sense.. But then I'll question why you're spending that much money..

For home use, it's more logical to wire backhaul 2-3 "decent" routers (and or mesh units), since it achieves the same goal, but with better/stronger hardware.
I do understand that some people want more control over the UI/SW though. It's not a one size fits all solution.

The U6-LITE signal even reached outside fairly far enough that I really should consider turning down the power.

I'm running 3x IKEv2 on 3 different UDMPs with 100% uptime. Under advanced settings when creating your VPN you can set pretty much anything.
My tunnels are a mix of other firewall hardware and azure. All IKEv2.
Note I'm using UDMP vs just the UDM, but I would imagine they have the same VPN features.
