I actually appreciate your advice on a really good headlamp because my friend and I are going to Yellowstone in a couple of weeks. But you do realize you are talking about a $100 item in a discussion about a $1.95 headlamp, right?
It can be done.
Kudos on being an excellent parent who is bringing up children with a love for books.

Not knocking this deal for the average person... I have bout 25 headlamps but I use my 2 Coast HL8-R headlamps every night. I just got done putting on one of my HL8-Rs and spending 3 hours pruning okra, eggplant, and tomato plants and also testing out my new BB gun. It is currently just past 2:00 AM here. I've had one of them for likely over 6 years and I did need to replace the band after I stored it around a large banister post and it ruined the elastic. Other than that, they're both going strong.

I can't imagine life without a reliable, powerful, rechargeable, focusable headlamp.

Yup, there was an Energizer post, and in that thread someone mentioned the Costco 3 for $15 Duracell deal as well.

I have definitely seen that backfire in the past as well. Right before LED lights got really bright and cheap all of my friends bought $200 headlamps that had a huge battery back in the back and a top head strap. A couple of years later you could buy a brighter tiny headlamp for $20 bucks at walmart.

Apparently they've dropped to $13 now, IN-STORE only. https://slickdeals.net/f/15881419-duracell-575-lumens-cob-headlamp-3-pack-costco-b-m-12-99?v=1&src=SiteSearch

The Duracell COB lights are brighter at 575 lumen (max) and have spot, flood and UV options. https://www.costco.com/duracell-5...94411.html

1.2v rechargeable batteries are going to make the max brightness lower than 1.5v throw aways.

Idk 1.2v sounds plenty for reading books in bed…

But yes, you are correct
