This is sodium hydro-oxide. A strong base. Another strong base is sodium bicarbonate. Baking soda, large bag for $8 at costco. Pour baking soda and a dilute acid to create reaction and clean your drains. I use diluted muriatic acid( HCl). (Add acid to water, never water to acid) You can also use vinegar. Cheapest way to clean and maintain your drains. Actually use baking soda in your fridge to absorb odors. After 30 days, pour it in drains. This way nothing gets wasted. Or you can throw money down the drain. That works too.
the list price it has never been sold at - the current price of $14.47 is essentially the highest ever - until two months ago the regular price was $12.12

To use this effectively, from what I experienced, is to pour in slowly and the amount it suggested. Repeat if needed and follow with boiling water. It doesn't seem to work any better by pouring in a lot at one time.

You can buy small one pound bottles of that at Home Depot for about 5 dollars. It's in the area where all the liquid drain opener products are.

Called "Crystal Lye Drain Cleaner" or something like that, depending on where you live and the product availability.

Even the one pound bottle will last a long time, because you only use a tablespoon.

Just unclogged shower drain a few days ago, using baking soda, apple-cider vinegar and hot/boiling water. Peace

If you order this, I'd recommend staggering your other Amazon orders a couple days apart. So this product ships alone. I ordered this once with some other stuff, and it was all thrown in the same shipping box.

Myth 4: Baking soda absorbs bad smells in your fridge. BUSTED! Activated charcoal actually is better at absorbing odor.

I'm always skeptical about pouring chemicals down the drain. I've never had an issue that my $20 reel snake can't handle. 99% of time it's at the trap, the U bend you'll see under the sink for example. If hair is the problem, that's pretty easily handled most of the time by physically removing the stopper. If you have a tub without a stopper then one of the barbed flat pieces of plastic snake or the handy reel snake.

If you've got a clog past the trap then you probably need to snake it out or call a plumber. Also keep in mind that plumbers may not want to work on a pipe that's full of draino - especially if that's not disclosed beforehand by the homeowner. It can cause serious eye damage if it spews or splashes while they're working.

I'm not a plumber... just had to read up on all of this while handling hair issues and having a septic tank. I'm the only guy in the house. So much hair...
