The deal here is the bundled Samsung USB 3.0 reader that allows Samsung PRO Plus cards to unlock a proprietary UHS-1 mode (DDR208) to reach 160/125 MB/s R/W speed. With other card (Samsung's slower EVO Plus/Select, SanDisk cards), or card reader (Samsung Pro with SanDisk reader) combination, one will often be limited to just under 100/100 at best (which is still no slouch). The reader is not available for purchase separately, and each vendor's DDR mode reader is not necessarily interoperable with other vendors' cards.

At $21, this is $1 higher than historic low price and around the same price as the same card bundled with full size SD card adapter (which everyone have dozens already by now) when on sale (around $18-20).
No, not when it's from Samsung. They have an authentication utility software.

Scroll to the bottom and look for: "Samsung Memory Card & UFD Authentication Utility"
I'm skeptical of Amazon stuff that is easily counterfeited. Anyone else?

Got a steamdeck on the way and looking for extra storage. I think 128gb might be a little light. Otherwise this would be a great card for that purpose.

Same. Wish valve would come out with a solid dual boot solution. I have a 256gb deck and would use 200gb for windows (game pass games!), 56gb for steam OS and dedicate a big microsd for steam games. Allegedly steamos microsd games run really well, whereas windows sucks to run off an sd card

I bought this a few weeks ago from Amazon. Got a real card. I am sure some people get fakes… but it is Amazon. If you have a problem send it back.

Same, no issues for me either and it's simple to return so i'm good with gambling on the extremely small chance it might be a fake.

Context is key here: I was responding to a comment relating to a Steam Deck. The Deck cannot read or write more than 100 MBps, so the 30-60 MBps difference is useless there.

A USB reader is a trivial add-on but costs more anyway, and I would much rather not pay extra for one because I have plenty of ways to read SD cards on a PC already.

Thanks for the context.

I don't think it's completely useless. Extra performance could be beneficial if using the card for multiple devices and not a drop in and forget type of deal.
