Wyze WSPRK1 Smart Controller , Smart Sprinkler Timer with EPA Watersense , 8-Zone WiFi (1 Year of Automatic Weather-Based Watering with Sprinkler Plus Included), Black.

$5 more expensive on Amazon than the Wyze website, but that's to accommodate the price of shipping that Wyze charges.

I see $64.23, not $88.

Even better pricing... Reviews look very good. Any thoughts from the SD community?

I've had this for about 15 months now. I like it and it works well for me.
It comes with 1 year of sprinkler plus, which is an automatic schedule and uses data like weather and how much moisture your soil has to water. I highly recommend AGAINST using this(you're not required to use the 1 year it comes with). It uses weather data which can be wrong, so I was constantly chasing it by manually watering the grass because it would override my own schedule. Also sprinkler plus cannot be fully disabled once its activated, so I basically suffered with it for a year, now that it ran out I have no problems.

I don't think I've seen the price be $88. HD has had them at $64 for a long time. https://www.homedepot.com/p/WYZE-.../315502878

As someone who has owned this, I highly recommend people NOT buy it.

Why? It almost set fire to my garage.

Long story short, I had an issue with one of my solenoids in my irrigation system. The little device that opens/closes the valve to each zone. Basically, one failed and was causing a short circuit. This is not all that uncommon, as they don't last forever. Most reputable irrigation controllers have protection for this and simply disable the zone. Wyze on the other hand does not. They decided to go the super cheap route and provide ZERO protection from shorts or other electrical issues in the zones. As a result, it basically just fries itself and overheats, sending power back to the AC adapter. Originally thinking it was a problem with just my controller, I bought a new one, but that ended up dying as well. During troubleshooting with an irrigation guy, it ended up overheating so badly that the unit started smoking and melting (the front face plate literally melted a hole in itself), heating up to the point where it was too hot to touch. The AC adapter exploded from the heat. Fortunately I was right there when it happened, otherwise the situation could have been far worse.

What did Wyze do after I reached out to their support team with a thorough explanation of these issues, pictures, etc.? They said they would have their development team "look into it", and didn't even offer an apology, let alone a refund. That was months ago and I've yet to hear anything back. I ended up buying a $60 Rainbird controller from Home Depot which, when connected to the still problematic system, immediately notified me of an issue on Zone X. It also didn't set itself on fire.

Wyze has a long history of cutting corners at customer's expense. Their V1 cameras, which generally work fine, had a huge security vulnerability that they purposely hid and did nothing to resolve. In this case, their cost cuttings almost caused serious damage to our house.

Caveat emptor.
