For just the flights, not sure. Maybe for the Expedia points? But sometimes they have package deals.

Actually I kind of like the airport. It has an outdoor Disneyland sort of theme going on, which gets you in the island vacation mood. It's much better than the dated Maui airport.

If you want resort life, then go to another place. Kona is great, so is Hilo, volcano park, waterfalls, green sand beach, rainforest, even the goats... why in the world does the airport matter? Not dangerous at all and I recommend hawaiian airlines

I assume it's because SD gets a kickback but always better to buy direct from airline in case a problem comes up

I like Priceline better. I did a comparison for Honolulu for same day departure and return and same hotel. Priceline is $152 cheaper per person.

Did you vacation at the airport? BTW, you'd hate Santorini and love Chicago if judging destinations based on airport's size / amenities is your thing.
