I signed up with an existing SXM login that I had cancelled a few months back, so it's available to previous customers. Standard SXM disclaimers apply WRT canceling service at the end of the promo, etc.

I've done THIS many times. I never even bother to cancel. It just stops working a few days after the freebie is supposed to end.

For this promo, I've signed up with a prepaid GC that had $.01 left on it (from the Boughtmilk settlement). I'll still cancel before the 4 month trial ends, just to avoid the collection invoices/junk mail.

Use a vcc and you're golden.
Although frankly with their typical retention offers, there's almost no reason to disconnect it ever since they'll renew your service for almost nothing.
