A few years ago I bought a moderately specced xps 13 for 600 bucks on dell outlet. It still does everything I need it to. Seems like no ultrabook less than 1k now days.

Okay. So you found a laptop on the Dell outlet, so it was likely returned, damaged, refurbished, or a previous generation. I will be that, had you bought that laptop new or custom order (like this one), it also would have also cost over $1,000.

This is literally like one of the more expensive models (the Nano) from Lenovo's most expensive line (the Thinkpad), specced with a giant amount of RAM. There are tons of ultrabooks available for less than $1,000. Hell, there are currently two, 2.6-pound Lenovos (one a Thinkpad, and the other a Thinkbook) posted to this forum now for like $960 and $830, respectively.

Thanks OP. Longtime Thinkpad user here. Bought one given it met my three criteria for 2022.

1. Thinkpad quality
2. At least 32gb RAM
3. 1080p webcam

(Translate to English)

This is a wonderful spec sheet. 1280p is simular to 12900H, just lower wattage, and they may be performing almost the same around 45W with adequate cooling. But can you really cool this little thing against with monstrous CPU?

We need someone to put it through the test runs and report.

Small screen is easily mitigated by having Galaxy Tab S8+/S7+ or Tab S8 ultra as a wireless monitor.

Small battery is easily mitigated (when needed) by having usbc external battery (they are cheap)

Thunderbolts can help with the rest.

So, my only concern is can 1280p live up to it's potential?

Yeah, that's a decent point. I mean, the MSRP for these laptops is quite high, and someone might not have time to deal with the potential hassles of buying something refurbed or from an outlet. I do think it's worth it to buy refurbs sometimes, but there is a greater degree of being in the right place at the right time as well.

Are you quite familiar with the Thinkpad line? I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon 7th generation. I'm pretty happy with it, except for the fact that it only has USB C ports on one side, and they are becoming a little loose. I would be willing to update for something a little lighter, and particularly if it is using a new case material. I'd appreciate any advice you can provide about options.

Is there anything particularly noteworthy that a person would be giving up by going with the Thinkpad X1 Nano compared to a model with a slightly larger screen (but still the Titanium, for example?).

I also like screens with 4:3 or even 3:2 ratios.

Thanks.

That's good to know. I'm hoping these new 12th generation processors will have better thermals, but there is no substitute for a slightly larger chassis when it comes to dissipating heat. I hope you find another laptop that suits you better.

What am I doing wrong ! The site automatically applies THINKAUG code . I copied the CLEARANCE2022 directly from the listing and pasted it into the promo box and applied it and I get this

We're sorry, eCoupon CLEARANCE2022 is not valid or may be expired.

For those interested in this "kind" of laptop I'd suggest to also look at Lenovo z13. Runs much cooler as it's AMD based. Faster 680m iGPU. USB 4.0. Sleek design, like Dell XPS.
