I was just going to cancel my theathlethic.com (The Athletic) subscription which was set to renew at $73 and they gave me a renewal offer for $19.92 (70% off) for the year.

I have no clue if this is typical or user-specific but a quick Slickdeals search didn't turn up anything other than a new subscribers offer from last year.

If anybody else wants to take advantage go into your Account, hit the Manage Subscription button, then try to cancel. I received a pop-up right away with the renewal offer on the screen.

Funny....I forgot to cancel and they charged me, $73.

Then I cancel and asked for a refund. I had to ask a couple more times, but I got a full refund.

I've had this happen to me last year & they refused to refund me. I didn't complain much because I use the service a lot. Especially during fantasy season & for baseball news. I renewed this year for $10.

I just put in my cancellation yesterday, it's going to die in a few days. I got offered a 50% off today, I think I'll wait a week or two and see if they up the offer. I'd rather pay closer to the $21 and $24 that I've paid in the past than $35.

I didn't have a hassle getting a refund after I got renewed at full price a few years back, but that was also a few years ago when things weren't as tight for them.

Yeah, I was offered 50% when I cancelled, it went down to 70% once my sub ended. So I'm back. Smilie
