I believe this is cheaper than the Costco in-warehouse price. They sell it on their Business Delivery site [costcobusinessdelivery.com] for $18.69 including delivery but you have to have a business account.

This is the cheapest it's been on Amazon in a long time and is usually OOS there and I don't expect this to last. FYI, this is $0.31/oz.
  • Variety pack: 10-Peanuts, 10-Almonds, 10-Cashews
  • Perfect for on-the-go snacking
  • Kosher
  • 1.6 oz pack
  • 30 ct

Are the prices you mention for single serving sealed packs or bulk/larger bags? To compare apples to apples you'd need to account for the convenience - and freshness - of single serving packs like these.

Also, there are the ingredients to consider...do they use just peanut oil like these or some (more unhealthy/cheaper oil). Are the almonds dry roasted like these?

Finally, are your prices for product shipped to your door?

It's rare to find a Costco product sold by Amazon that's cheaper than Costco sells it for.
Also only 6 of the 36 packs are cashews, the rest peanuts. The Kirkland pack is 10-10-10.

Doesn't Amazon post nutritional info any more? Sorry OP, just saw it is listed on your post.

Please help me understand how this is a deal.. Overall cost is $5 per pound.

I usually pay:
$2 per pound for shelled peanuts
$5 per pound for shelled almonds
$5 per pound for cashews

when purchased individually.

Edit: Yep, decent deal here if you need the small individual packets. My prices are for dry roasted nuts, but purchased in 1-pound lots.

This is cheaper than in Costco but not sure of the expiration. Additionally, there is no returns possible with Amazon. This box is nice for convenience but you'll save A LOT more by buying the larger bags of different nuts (cashews, peanuts, walnuts, almonds, macadamia, etc) and putting a box of snack size ziploc bags next to them to make your own bags. To each their own but I prefer a bit more variety.

You are right, it is hard to find Amazon products cheaper than Costco. But from my previous experience, the cheaper food products was due to the expiration date. Note that the Amazon purchase does not allow for returns.

Amazon has a planters 60.4oz variety package for $15.49 ($0.256/lb) which is an even better deal.

I believe you're referring to this [amazon.com]Planters Nuts Cashews and Peanuts Variety Pack Snack Nuts (36 Count - 61.49 Oz total) and you mean $0.256/OZ.

Keep in mind the Planter's variety pack includes DIFFERENT nuts than the OP deal (Honey Roasted Peanuts instead of Almonds), making it an apples & oranges comparison.

The Planter's Honey Roasted Peanuts Ingredients are "peanuts, sugar, peanut oil, honey, corn syrup, sea salt, fructose, cornstarch, xanthan gum."

The Kirkland Almond ingredients are simply "dry roasted almonds and sea salt."

The Planter's peanuts use "peanut and/or cottonseed oil," which isn't nearly as desired as just peanut oil.

So, an extra $0.054/oz seems very reasonable for higher quality ingredients and non-sugary nuts.

I like the way you defend your deal Smilie That said, I was also surprised to find a Kirkland/Costco dried mangoes cheaper on Amazon and actually available in stock to purchase where Costco was out of stock and even when in stock I'd have to order $80 worth to get free shipping. HOWEVER, when I received the said Kirkland dry mangoes, they tasted very sour compared to the exact same ones I got from Costco so I'm not sure what happened. I'm reluctant to order more from Amazon for Kirkland products.... Confused

They never take returns on grocery items, but you can get a refund if the item is bad, close to expiration, etc. I've never had a problem.
