I can speak on this as it is my main "smart" watch!
For basic time+occasional notifications, this is actually pretty nice. Looks nice IMO, doesn't feel too hefty, and its battery life usually lasts me somewhere between 1 and 3 weeks. Some HUGE caveats though, in that its "smart" features are super basic, and it is a pain in the butt to navigate with the three buttons. I wouldn't recommend if you're getting a relevant notification every few minutes, but in my use case of wanting to see just the occasional text it works perfect. What counts as a notification to the watch is configurable in the Fossil app.
My Favorite features:
Customizable watch face. As silly as this sounds I forget the day of the month all the time, so having my watch say "Monday 15" helps a ton. I have temperature, chance of rain, battery percentage, and the aforementioned day of week and date on mine, along with the traditional clock numbers on the perimeter.
The e-ink display is super nice. Super easy on the eyes and readable in very, very bright conditions. I also like the monochrome nature of it as it makes it less distracting to yourself and others when you do get a notification, but obviously that could be a downside for some.
My Pain Points:
The watch backlight is terribad. I don't even mind that it isn't automatic/always on, but to activate it you have to tap the glass a bunch and just hope it registers. It usually takes me around 10 seconds of fidgeting for it to activate. Not even the lift wrist gesture (this makes the watch hands spin so you can ready anything they would cover up) activates the light which IMO is a huge missed opportunity. I hope they add the ability for you to do that in software as it would more or less solve the issue for me.
The watch looses a lot of clarity when at off angle, which is weird considering it uses e-ink for the screen and therefore should have near perfect off axis viewing. I think the glass blurs it or something.
Overall, I'd recommend this for those who have tried smartwatches and not ended up using any of the main features. This is a great blend of nice watch and semi smart conveniences.
