I feel it should be noted the GPU in this laptop is GDDR6, not GDDR5 as in the updated OP. This means you get more bandwidth and the capability of overclocking the memory is going to be much improved.
This isnt the original 1650 mobile, rather an updated version that uses GDDR6.
Guys, for $550, or even $447 (open box) you gotta be willing to make some sacrifices lol they cant give you the world.
I haven't seen any comparable laptops with a 12th gen intel chip. This is a very strong 8 core/12 thread chip that is the latest and greatest. For $550 you're not doing better, you might find something with an RTX 3050 but you're giving up significant CPU power, and efficiency, as this 12th gen chip is on Intel's 10 nm process.
Also, mind that the NVMe drive in this laptop is capable of almost 7000 MB/s, you're not getting speed like this in any other $550 laptop, as they simply lack the PCIe 4.0 bus.
Its also got an HDMI 2.1 port, and DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C, features that again are lacking at this price point in almost all laptops.
Great deal on a nice entry level gaming laptop. Picked one of these up yesterday and for $550 its a steal. Open box Excellent from $447.
For those mentioning a 3050 or 3060 the price would be 800+.
No, there's been several deals of comparable models - Acer Nitros, Lenovos, Dells, etc that have had similar processor or better 11th gen + 3050 Ti for $500-600.
Haven't seen any with a 3060 float that low yet, but you can definitely get a 3050 Ti gaming laptop with comparable or better specs by keeping your eyes out.

Can't believe the 1650 is still a thing, especially when they paired it with the 12th Gen intel cpus.
When the supply chain gets flipped upside down and they have a surplus of 1650's and a drought on better / newer generation GPU's due to component shortages.....you get solid CPU choices paired with silly GPU choices.
All based solely on availability of chips needed to build.
.
. ***On a completely unrelated sidenote......it's wild that this laptop has a LAN port on both sides as well as an HDMI connection on both sides.
Usually at this pricepoint you would only see a single HDMI or maybe an HDMI and a Displayport. As for the dual-LAN, that isn't something I'm used to seeing.
Although, if I'm being honest, it's probably been a while since I spec'd out current laptops. : D
Unsure but fairly low, id not recommend using this outside. Its adequate for indoor use but they prioritized refresh rate above all else on this screen.

Oof.
To me, a 3050 Ti is bare minimum in 2022.
