Just a heads up... If your activation gets messed up in the future, you are in a for a hell of a time getting it resolved. I deactivated on my old computer, built a new one and it wouldn't let me activate. Adobe support had all sorts of ridiculous "solutions" when all they should have needed to do was deauthorize any computer still tied to the license and let me reactivate. I eventually gave up but am still bitter... as you can tell.
I had the exact same situation on my end. Seems like a simple solution that Adobe wants to make as frustrating as possible so you either buy a new one or go with their subscription. There are enough good free and pay once ptions that it's not worth my time.

It seems to be the lowest price for this bundle so far.

I upgraded from an previous version of this earlier this year, and returned it. You can't scroll the timeline or zoom using the mousewheel! I use this all of the time, and EVERY other editing software you can do it. I downgraded back to my 10-year old version of this software, and sometimes I use kdenlive too.

(Proof you can't do it: https://community.adobe.com/t5/pr...p/10625337 )

What are some of the best alternative tools to these right now?

I don't know how it is now, but I had PainShop Pro 2018 or something installed on my desktop, and that thing was super obnoxious with pop-ups. About 2-3x a day, this ad would pop-up on the bottom-right screen telling me I should upgrade to the latest Paintshop Pro, or why I should purchase these effects bundle. No matter how I adjusted the settings, that pop-up wouldn't go away. Got fed up, so I simply uninstalled the whole thing. I got the software for free anyways that came bundled with one of my Lumix cameras.

My hunch exactly. I think the support person even suggested it as a "solution" They would love to get everyone on the subscription model or at least having to regularly buy their software. I bought Affinity for photos and while I'm still more comfortable in Photoshop, I'm glad to have usable software that gets regular updates at a reasonable price and supports a smaller company. Now if only they would develop video editing software as well...

davinchi resolve on the video editing side. Their free version has a ton of capability.

Several people are moving from premiere cc over to resolve

Those are all good alternatives.
I think Dark Table is pretty robust for free software too.
