Getting close to the 20% off that you normally see on the bonsai. It's a great set for display! I wasn't too thrilled about the loose "bark" though.

I posted this in the thread yesterday on the succulents, but I'll say it again here - These are readily available as Chinese knockoffs (bootlego) on AliExpress, and the quality is basically indistinguishable from LEGO.

I picked this one and another one up a few months ago for $20 each.

For those who say the quality is way worse than LEGO - maybe a decade ago, but nowadays quality is great for most of the knockoffs. It helps to be a bit plugged in so you know what brands are good and which are bad, but I've never gotten something so bad it wasn't worth the savings.

I mean, LEGO is made all over the world now - https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutu...n-vietnam/

is it really so hard to believe that knockoff brands in China can't buy and maintain the same injection molding equipment with the same tolerances as LEGO? Especially when the technology obviously exists in-country?
Thanks for saving me the money and opening me up to this world of blocks and the lepin sub. I was considering a few lego sets, but the replicas make the price a lot more digestible.
Definitely the way to go, and I can recall now a friend who has the bouqet from aliexpress who said she originally was going to get the lego but went this route.

I've stopped buying LEGO years ago due to their high prices and fragility. If you accidentally drop it, it breaks like glass. WTF?!

LEGO products usually hold their value after the sets are retired, even when open. Meaning, in most cases, you can sell it and almost break even.

Knockoff LEGO has 0 resell value....as a complete set or as bulk bricks. Just FYI.

I bough this LEGO Orchid set for $45 last month, but Amazon shipped me a crushed LEGO box. This is my mom's birthday gift, so I will return and buy it again at $42. The big shipping box outside was not damaged, and 2 other boxes inside were not damaged. This means the LEGO box was crushed in the warehouse, but Amazon chose to ship it anyway. Mad

I hope Amazon reads SD. Your shipping QC has deteriorated drastically. I received 2x more damaged books and items in the last 2 years. Returns waste customer time and Amazon money. Please slow down and ship it right the first time. Fellow SDers please chime in if you agree with me. Thank you. Peace

Wave So let me get this straight.. you guys just buy these super ridiculously overpriced "Official Lego" sets to build them.. put them in your house on display (assumption right?.. WTF else right homie?), then decide to bust them up and resell them years later?

I gotta ask.. what the hell is the point of that? Serious and truly legitimate question of course.. and definitely something people wondering why official lego sets can cost into the multi-hundreds of USD$.

*Can you explain this? I'm not "hating".. i'm seriously concerned about LEGO prices (coming from someone that does not buy or ever will buy LEGO sets) Peace

What's the point of buying a car, using it, then reselling it years later?

I'd probably get more for a Nissan than a Chinese knockoff Nis-an

It's not that they can't make the same mold, with knock offs it's always been bad qc. (If you think Lego is bad already)

Lego customer service is also pretty good with a phone call, where as aliexpress replacements....

Also with Lego getting a stronger foothold in China, KO futures are muddy at best.

As another guy, saving 50% on sets, and waiting weeks if not months to get something with no box, just to not have some value on your purchases just doesn't make sense for most people
