Why not spend the extra $100 and get a kit with a) new tools, not refurbished, b) 3.0Ah batteries, not 1.5Ah ones, and c) brushless, not brushed motors.

I think anyone buying these would be better served long term spending up a bit more.

Also, if one can wait until later this year these kits usually go on deeper discount.

No love? This is a sweet deal! If you're a tradesman, you know Makita will outlast any other brand set like this for far more years

I bought a similar, not brushless Makita refurb set from a slickdeal probably over 10 years ago. Back when they came with the hard case! I use them pretty often, and hard if needed, including many bigger projects for a homeowner / DIYer. They're the reason I'm now fully on the Makita line for my 18/36 volt, after having gone through several other brands and having tool/battery failures happen more often then I feel they should have. I've gotten new batteries with other tools since, although the originals still work just w diminished capacity. I had to replace the drill last year (new one fits in the hard case!), and kinda wish the impact would die so I can upgrade to a brushless multi-speed one but it's still going strong. I'm impressed with their performance and how long they've lasted given the use and the fact they were refurb, and not brushless. So yea, this is def slick.

Brushed tools>cheap brushless, imo of course. I would rather have older brushed Makita tools than the bottom of the line brushless. The brushless impact is decent but the drill is complete trash and you would be MUCH better served by a brushed drill.

Bought just for the batteries. 1.5AH are nice because they are lighter and less bulky. 2 batteries cost more than this deal.

Small brushless drills suck. Brushed drills still have a place.

Buyer beware. Somehow my ebay account was hacked and the hacker bought this. Seller was unwilling to cancel order even though I gave plenty of leeway before shipment. Also my Gmail was loaded up with spam.

def get brushless. 1.5ah battery will not last long with brushed motor. not much price difference and you wont need to upgrade eventually

I bought a $175 combo brushless in May this year. This is a good price but not as great as that deal.

This is a great entry point for Makita's LXT line. I have these along with a bunch of brushless Makita tools and while the brushless are nice I see absolutely no need to upgrade these. I also have multiple 3AH and 4AH batteries but more often than not I'm just drilling a hole or two and so I'll reach for the 1.5AH since it's nice and light.
