This is the lowest this refurb model has gone for.
However, not sure if it's a great deal, considering the new was available for $90 more just a month ago.
Still, a deal worth considering.

Excellent deal. Probably the best bang for your buck that you can get for an ultra book that has better than iGPU specs.

I just really wish it wasn't so ugly.

For me, when I see any "silver on silver" laptops I want to run away. HP does this crap all the time. Low contrast, forcing people to hunt for keys, etc. It's a dumb idea by dumb product designers.

Side note: the best built laptop I've ever had IS an acer. 11 years and I'm still using almost daily. They really don't build them like they used to, which is sad for us all.

HP, Lenovo, [ IBM, compaq (really old) ], Dell, yada, yada, I've had so many and they all break, usually easily and frequently.

I don't game at all, and I'm OS agnostic. I occasionally use Handbrake, but most of the things I need are web-based. Would you recommend this over the base model MacBook Air M1 for slightly more?

I don't think many windows laptops (12th gen intel included) hold a candle to the M1, unless you are gaming. This thing can actually do AAA gaming at least on the lowest settings, otherwise you're better off with an M1 for superior build, fanless, lack of heat and battery life.
