Could you please help identify the UL listing for this particular model? I could not locate a listing for the model AD84CL or the shorter cord variant AD84C among the listings for Tonghua [intertekconnect.com]. In contrast, it was trivial to locate the listing for the power cord [intertekconnect.com], but this is problematic as it does not represent a proper listing. Presumably the AD84CL should have a surge protection listing (UL 1449) and an appropriate listing as a "relocatable power tap" (UL 1363). Unfortunately, a Q&A for the AD84C [amazon.com] highlights the lack of safety certification marks. A reputable device with appropriate listings will bear UL listing marks. Proper labeling is typically seen as those holographic metal foil labels or an integral part of the injection molding in the body of the device to indicate a listing certificate number and/or the appropriate standards. You can review the guidelines here: https://marks.ul.com/about/ul-lis...h-america/.

The AD84C and AD84CL instead only appear to have UL marks on the cord, but not the device itself. This combination is typically a method employed by suspect brands to suggest certification for a device that does not exist. If I went to a Home Depot and bought a UL-listed extension cord but proceeded to cut off the outlet end and attached alligator clips I could not resell such a device as UL-listed.

Good luck!
Jon
Not UL listed no sale.
USB C charging port features 3A Max,
USB A charging port features 2.4A Max

ETL listings are under a parent company:
TONGHUA INTELLIGENT TECHNOLOGY CO., LTD. - Dongguan, CHINA
Product Information: Trade Name(s): Power Max, OneBeat, Mifaso, Addtam, HanyCony, Beshon.
but knowing if one of those listings is this exact item is difficult. i defer to Jon below

I got a similar one from Amazon Prime day sale (same price $15).... I love it. This is better as it has USB-C but didn't matter to me. I replaced all my power adapters and just use the cables to connect to my phones/tablets and echoshow.

Pretty nice as long as the surge protection can be trusted. This would be excellent to take traveling I warrant.

The questions section has an answer by the seller saying "This is ETL certified and the plug is UL certified", for whatever that's worth.

On a scale from 1 - burn your home down?

Anything similar to look at, maybe with more USB power ports for the multitude of accessories? And strategic wall wart geometry?

Just an FYI, ETL using UL specs for testing. It just doesn't come up with the specs like UL does.

Having said that, ETL is cheaper to get certification and quicker. Often it is a little less stringent.

You guys remember when Amazon said they were getting rid of a bunch of Chinese spam nonsense name manufacturers and then only deleted the actual good ones?

That's avoiding the question or an incomplete answer at best. At worst, the same thing is being intentionally stated in two different ways to suggest something that may not be true at all. I worry that the latter is true given the problematic wording used (listed and certified have potentially different implications [polycase.com]). The plug/cord is UL listed. The UL listing for the plug/cord is under ETL Intertek (meaning ETL Intertek was the 3rd party company employed to do the UL listing). No information is conveyed about the surge protector / power strip.

ETL Intertek is indeed one of many companies which can support UL listing (as opposed to listing with UL itself) and is generally regarded as faster/cheaper than listing directly with UL. However, there is no listing I could find under ETL for this model (and the Q&A for the short cord model [amazon.com] suggests no markings which would confirm such a listing - a requirement for all products with a UL listing). Contrast this with the power plug, which has a molded UL listing which can easily be found on ETL [intertekconnect.com].

Good luck!
