Not a fan of Netgear. Asus have the most reliable routers.

BTW I posted this deal yesterday: https://slickdeals.net/f/16055851

I picked this up earlier today for that price. Great deal. These range from 220 to 300 normally. Cheapest I had seen was the 2 pack at Sam's club for $99.

i thought i was the only one....

i had a few netgear product throughout my life and they all failed randomly on me and then i thought i would give asus a try, Asus feel super hollow and light i had my doubt if its just an empty box but omg it just trouble free for 2+ years

only thing i miss about netgear is their aesthetics

Nope, same situation here - used Apple stuff until it got too old, then went to Netgear Nighthawk stuff and … man, it just kept crashing over and over again; and when the pandemic started and the Spouse's work went ENTIRELY virtual, it kept crashing while she was in session, and THAT was the final straw.

(Oh, and let's not forget Netgear deciding to remove several features in their firmware to make room for their subscription upsell Circle security software. Didn't do anything about reliability, mind, but they'd still really like you to subscribe.)

Went to a fancy-pants Asus WiFi6 router last year, and haven't looked back AT ALL. Shortly after, got a secondary router to use with their AiMesh system for covering a WiFi weak spot, and it's been aces. Everything's been rock-solid this entire time. Can't recommend 'em enough.

(Actually, one down side - the advertised Time Machine/Time Capsule capability for Mac users really doesn't work reliably at all - I had to get a separate solution for that. Meh.)

Recently setup a three piece tp link deco system at my folks house. Super easy, works great and the app is simple enough that my Mom can figure it out (Dad is hopeless lol). I keep a copy of the deco app linked to her account on my phone as well incase she ever has a problem, but in the three months or so, there has been zero issues. They have a very large three story home, like 6000 sqf.
The deco S4 model. Only wifi 5, however, they were on sale at the time and for what they wanted/need and the price, these are perfect.

TP-Link Deco Mesh WiFi System (Deco S4) – Up to 5,500 Sq.ft. Coverage 3-pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084GTH5LL

Couldn't agree more, Netgear's would die and this first gen Asus AC router, while expensive at the time, won't quit.

Just my 2 cents, I'll also state Asus routers top Netgear all day long. More expensive sure, but you get what you pay for. Had Netgear for years (multiple devices that failed), decided to spend hundreds on an Asus, and two years later it just won't stop. It fills the house...and half a block down the road.

Netgear seems to be getting some hate in these comments, but as someone who owns this exact 3-node setup (without any issues) I'd say this is a great find. I paid ~$250 around 2 years ago

I had Netgear stuff in the past and it was always a hassle I feel. Reliability wasn't great.

I ended up purchasing the Arris surfboard pro max from Walmart a couple years ago on clearance and although it's all app based it's been rock solid and reliable. Haven't had an issue and get consistent speeds

Same here. I am actually thinking about buying three more at this price point and leave it in the room closest to the backyard/front yard where reception gets spotty.
