A little slower in performance than a 5800x in gaming from what I saw on youtube, BUT it is only PCIE Gen 3. 5800X is PCIE Gen 4.

5700G has an iGPU. 5800X does not.
I think the Ryzen 7000 iGPU might end up close to an Athlon 3000G (Vega 3). Which would not be great but is a nice thing to have by default.

If you can get nice deals on a motherboard, CPU, and DDR4, going with dead-end AM4 is legit. These CPUs are more than enough for most people, most people do not actually upgrade CPUs, AM5 CPUs and motherboards will be expensive at launch, and DDR5 is still expensive.

If you want to experience the AM5 upgrade path, I'd recommend waiting for something much cheaper than a $300 7600X to appear, and DDR5 to get cheaper. Or wait until 7800X3D if you actually want the ultimate gaming performance in 2023.

Currently have a 7 3700X but hoping the 7 5700X will come down to $200, just for the PCIe Gen4 and newer generation upgrade.

Snagged a renewed one for $200 earlier this week from Amazon Warehouse. Haven't installed it yet but I generally have good results from them.

7000 Ryzens will be retail available on Tuesday. They will have very basic iGPU functionality but not as good as APUs for games. We don't have the FPS numbers yet, so wait and check the reviews. The 5x00 APUs were a godsend during the GPU winter as they have acceptable gaming performance on games ~5 years old and older, but now GPUs are reasonably priced.

For the longer term, it's better to sink money into an AM5 socket and DDR5 memory instead of older tech for most people, unless the budget is tight.

3 Days til AMD announcement for the 7000 Series. I would wait and hold the line on Ryzen CPU's atm.

With the 5600G hovering around $130 is it worth the extra $100 for two more cores and 4 more threads?

That really depends on your use. If you somebody who does for example do alot of video editing or other work which is kinda heavy on the cpu then yes. However if you talk about internet and gaming most likely not.

If you have to ask, the answer is no. And maybe the 5700G will drop further in price.

The 5600G [amd.com] has 7 CUs for the graphics, while the 5700G has 8 CUs. AMD learned their lesson with Rembrandt; the 6-core has 6 CUs, and the 8-core has 12 CUs. 50% instead of 87.5%.

Sadly it stopped hovering and is back up to $150-$160. I regret not buying one but it'll probably come back down IMO.

Gen 4 only matters if you're doing heavy ssd to ssd writes basically. Any 6600XT/3050 and up should game fine on the x16 gen 3

And then you don't get sucked into the 12th generation Intel z690 boards which are insanely expensive.

Considering that many of us are starting to forget how scarce gpus were... I consider this the best zen 3 offering that AMD provided. As with the i5 12600k from Intel.

Some of the reviews show where it beats the 5800 in certain tasks but if you're going to be a late gamer and never add a GPU I'd get the 5700 g if you're going to get a GPU I would get the 5700g as well you're going to need that extra core.

5700G plenty fast for moderate gaming with igpu or excellent gaming with your own GPU.

What is this like 4% slower than the 5800 x but you get with the integrated Vega 8 graphics. Do your diligence in some tests the actual igpu outperform the dedicated GPU it's no slouch.
