The 2.5ah is insufficient to handle the load of this tool. Previous kits included the 5ah.
When I put my 2.5ah into this saw it runs under no load fine. Shortly after starting to cut the power ring starts blinking from the voltage sag.
The 5ah is perfect and has powered through many 12" trees for me
Ditto. Why Ego even packages their chainsaw and blower kits with 2.5s puzzles me. Great saw but the small battery will only be good for pruning/limbing.
Are you sure you guys aren't talking about the previous version of it? This one is updated this year and this video shows a fella cutting quite a bit of large oak cuts with this battery. I was impressed, bought it and haven't been let down yet, but don't expect it to buck large trees with it. https://youtu.be/QkNepHpQMiA
