I have sworn off Qnap after both the units died all of a sudden. one was desktop like this one and one was a commercial grade for server rack soon after warranty ends.

There are no replacement parts available anywhere to be found as these are proprietary.

For the much money, you are probably better off buying a case, and build a computer with a medium level processor. Install freenas on it, and for less money than above you will get way better performance and ability to repair.
Alternatively buy a used servers from eBay and just install the OS.

For anyone who doesn't already know: If your Wifi router has a USB port, you should be able to plug in a flash or hard drive, and set up a simple NAS (accessible by every device connected to your Wifi).

Not as fast as this, but practically 'free'.

This is pricey…I have some older qnap 2 bay that's been running for almost 10 years. It's reliable and low power
